Writing Activities as Intervention for Improving Academic Achievement in Mathematics

<p style="text-align: justify;">Much research in Mathematics instruction has focused on collaborative learning and differentiated instruction. However, very little the Philippines utilizing writing activities as an instructional intervention. Even Mathematics, a subject grounded computations, this can be beneficial. By explaining how problem is solved, or why solution erroneous, students will learn concepts may applied deeper sense. Given pandemic's limits Philippines' low-performance ratings international assessments, there pressing need to develop innovations continue learning. Hence, study investigated whether are effective improving academic achievement mathematics classrooms. Using explanatory sequential mixed methods design, involved selected Grade 8 public school Pasig City. The results of quantitative data showed significant difference pre-test post-test scores experimental group compared control. This was supported by qualitative which revealed that help understand topics, remember concepts, serve reviewer before assessment. Overall, suggests intervention student’s achievement.</p>
